Manchester United are thought to be keen on reigniting their interest in Harry Maguire.
According to The Sun, Manchester United may return with a £60m bid for Maguire in January.
If Maguire does leave, Leicester City will need an adequate replacement.
The England international has been so crucial to Leicester’s success as he has been a rock at the back.
Aerially, he is almost impossible to beat and he is comfortable with the ball at his feet, too.
But rather than splash big cash on a new centre-back, Leicester already have their long-term replacement.
Filip Benkovic, currently on loan at Celtic, can step into Maguire’s boots if Manchester United complete this deal.
Benkovic is impressing at Celtic and the Bhoys would love to keep him.
But his future lies at Leicester after his summer move and he is bound to be able to deal with Premier League football.
The 21-year-old stands at 6ft 4in tall and is dominant in the air. And he has proven his worth with some great all-round performances at the back in Scotland.
Leicester bought the Croatia youth international for £13m in the summer. And if he can replicate his form for Celtic when he returns to England, this will seem like a genuine bargain.
Benkovic can definitely take over from Maguire as the lead defender if the 25-year-old leaves.
