Celtic’s Albian Ajeti interest should tempt West Ham into fresh Olivier Ntcham bid

Sky Sports reported this week that Celtic have made an enquiry for West Ham United’s forgotten man Albian Ajeti as the Hoops look to bolster their striker ranks.

Ajeti has endured a tough first season at the London Stadium. He is yet to open his account for the Hammers, and has not even started a Premier League game for the club.

Sky Sports reported that the Bhoys were open to taking Ajeti on loan or on a permanent basis. But it remains to be seen if the Irons are willing to let the Swiss leave after just one season with the club.

Should David Moyes decide that he is happy to let him move on, perhaps the Hammers boss should look at Celtic’s interest in Ajeti as an opportunity to land one of his reported targets during the January transfer window.

Foot Mercato claimed that West Ham were in advanced talks to sign Olivier Ntcham at the start of the year.

Of course, no move would come to fruition. And that may leave some supporters questioning how close the Hammers actually came to landing the Frenchman.

But if they were interested, perhaps West Ham should attempt to use Ajeti as part of a fresh bid for Ntcham this summer.

If Celtic feel any pressure to sell the £35,000-a-week midfielder (wages reported by The Scottish Sun), they may perhaps be tempted to entertain the idea of a swap depending on how much Neil Lennon wants Ajeti.

The two clubs would have to agree on their respective valuations of the two players. But perhaps there could be scope for a deal to be struck.
