Celtic secured their passage into the Scottish Cup final yesterday with a comfortable 3-0 win over Aberdeen at Hampden Park.
The rout saw James Forrest, Odsonne Edouard and Tom Rogic score against the Dons who finished with nine men. Boss Derek McInnes also saw red later on and was sent to the stands.
Forrest’s goal was clearly the best in terms of quality, although Rogic’s first strike since October was perhaps the best moment of the game.
A serious knee problem has seen the Australian miss a large portion of the current campaign. His ability is undoubted though and he offered a reminder to Neil Lennon of the quality he brings to the team.
In 162 appearances for the Hoops, he has contributed 35 goals and 28 assists. On yesterday’s showing, he is still very much a big player for Celtic moving forward.
Rogic can be an important player for the Parkhead-based club. His ability to play in pretty much any attacking position is extremely useful.
Against Aberdeen, he was deployed as an attacking midfielder just behind Edouard. He was forced into the action just before the interval after a serious injury to Ryan Christie.
He linked up superbly well with his fellow attackers and looked to be back enjoying his football once more.
The 26-year-old is under contract until 2023. The challenge for the rest of this season is to stay in the team, get back to full fitness and then prepare to challenge for a regular place in the side during 2019/20.
