A new right-back has emerged as a potential transfer target for Celtic. As reported by the Daily Mail, and relayed by The Scottish Sun, the German defender Jeremy Toljan has become a potential target for the club.
The 24-year-old has been struggling for first-team football at the German side recently. He joined the club from Hoffenheim in 2017 but has not been able to shift the likes of Lukasz Piszczek and Achraf Hakimi from the first-team. He has not played a single game for Dortmund this season, appearing on the bench on just two occasions.
Celtic, therefore, have a great chance of securing a deal.
Whilst some Celtic fans will fear another Marvin Compper, Toljan is an entirely different beast.
He is a top option who, before joining Dortmund, was high on the transfer shortlist of Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham Hotspur.
As reported by the London Evening Standard, Tottenham considered Toljan as a bargain £3.1 million replacement for Kyle Walker following his Manchester City switch.
In the end, Toljan chose Dortmund and Tottenham signed Serge Aurier.
It has not quite happened for Toljan at Signal Iduna Park but he remains a top talent and Celtic could be signing a sleeper gem if they managed to secure his signature.
