Celtic are reportedly interested in a move for Azerbaijan defender Bahlul Mustafazade. As reported by the Glasgow Evening Times the 22-year-old has been invited for a summer trial at Celtic and is out of contract in the summer.
He currently plays for Gabala, one of the Azeri league’s best-known clubs. In fact, they have become regulars in the Europa League in recent seasons.
However, they failed to make it to the main stages of the competition this season. In fact, they lost to a team Celtic fans will have definitely heard of.

Progres Niederkorn, the Luxembourg minnows, defeated Gabala 2-1 on aggregate. This came one year after they shocked Celtic’s eternal rivals Rangers, a feat that Bhoys fans enjoyed rubbing in the face of their rivals.
Mustafazade played in the first-leg of that fixture, which Gabala lost 2-0. He was subsequently dropped for the next game which they won 1-0, losing 2-1 on aggregate.
Celtic fans will, therefore, be wary of a player who struggled against a team who so amusingly defeated their Old Firm rivals.
Perhaps a trial is the best way to assess if he has the quality to play for Celtic.
