Celtic supporters react as club reportedly eye Barcelona winger Alex Collado

Celtic are reportedly rivalling numerous European sides in a bid to lure Barcelona youngster Alex Collado to Parkhead on a season-long loan this summer – and Hoops supporters are keen to see the Spain youth international in green and white.

The Hoops are looking to bring in wingers before the end of the summer window, with Mikey Johnston, Mo Elyounoussi and James Forrest acting as options. Collado, 21, has emerged as a potential target for Neil Lennon’s side.

The Scottish Daily Mail claimed in Wednesday’s paper edition (page 86) – as per the Scottish Sun – that Celtic want to sign Spain Under-19 international Collado who has been likened to Lionel Messi in parts of the Spanish media.

It is believed that Barcelona do not see Collado – who has managed two senior appearances after coming through the ranks – as part of Ronald Koeman’s first-team plans. They are looking to offload him, with his contract entering its final 12 months.

Celtic are ready to take him on loan, but face competition for the Spaniard’s signature. Indeed, Villarreal, Werder Bremen and Torino all want to sign the youngster, who is naturally a right winger but can play on either side.

Celtic supporters reacted on Twitter to the reported news that their club want to sign Collado, and while one fan compared him to Paddy McCourt – others think he would be a good signing as Celtic pursue 10 in a row.
