Celtic supporters react as club agree to re-sign Mo Elyounoussi

Celtic have confirmed they have agreed a move to re-sign Southampton winger Mo Elyounoussi on loan for the 2020-21 campaign after an impressive first season with the Scottish champions – and Celtic fans have responded.

Elyounoussi, 25, scored seven goals and created six more during 20 league and cup appearances for Celtic while on loan with Neil Lennon’s side. Injury curtailed his initial loan spell, but it he will now get another chance.

Norwegian outlet VG have claimed the the former Basel and Molde ace was to sign a new loan deal at Celtic just hours before Celtic confirmed the deal, which will keep him in Glasgow ahead of their pursuit of 10 in a row.

Lennon had reiterated his desperation to keep both Elyounoussi and Fraser Forster for next season, though permanent deals were always unlikely. Celtic and Southampton have a good relationship in the market.

The report states that Elyounoussi chose to rejoin Celtic for another season despite interest from La Liga side Real Betis. He still has a contract at Celtic until the summer of 2023, worth a whopping £60,000 a week (Spotrac).

Celtic supporters have reacted on Twitter to the news that Elyounoussi has agreed to stay at Celtic for another season – and many fans are delighted to hear that he will be in green and white next season.
