Odsonne Edouard is renowned for his subdued celebrations when hitting the back of the net for Celtic, and it has seen ex-Celtic man Charlie Nicholas bizzarely criticise the Frenchman. Now, ‘French Eddy’ has hit back at Nicholas on Twitter.
Edouard, who is still only 21, has now netted eight goals in 14 league and cup appearances for the Scottish champions as well as laying on five assists. Despite his tender age, he has amassed an incredible 41 goals in 95 games for Celtic.
Former Celtic star Nicholas, though, brushed his age aside to criticise the France Under-21 international, writing in his Express column, as quoted by the Record: “The thing that irritates me more than anything is his lack of celebration when he scores.”
It is bizarre criticism from the Sky Sports pundit, and indeed, Edouard has bitten back at Nicholas by posting on Twitter. The former PSG striker said it is “not my problem” that Nicholas does not like the way he celebrates scoring.
Interestingly, Edouard has been seen to celebrate his goals and although it is far from doing a backflip, the Frenchman does normally celebrate with the Celtic crowd. Edouard received support on Twitter from a Celtic icon, soon after his Tweet.
Indeed, Chris Sutton responded to Edouard by deeming the Frenchman “quite right” to celebrate in the way the Frenchman pleases. Celtic fans, though, will hardly care how he celebrates – as long as he keeps scoring goals.
