Celtic defender Jack Hendry has the chance to prove some of the doubters wrong on Thursday with a solid performance against FC Salzburg hitman Moanes Dabour.
Hendry is likely to start the Europa League clash, with Leicester City loanee struggling to shake off an achilles injury, Kristoffer Ajer out after picking up a knock against St. Johnstone and Jozo Simunovic also still sidelined.
It’ll mean Hendry could come in to partner Dedryck Boyata.
And if Brendan Rodgers places his faith in the Scotland international, then he’ll be up against Dabour, who has started the 2018/19 season on fire for Salzburg.
Hendry faces big test
It’s a potential baptism of fire for Hendry, who hasn’t yet convinced the majority of the Celtic faithful since joining the club in January.
He was suspect against Aberdeen last weekend, but ended his poor record of having been on the winning side just once in nine starts.
He has the backing of his manager, and must now put in a big performance against Dabour.
Israel international Dabour is Salzburg’s danger man, and has seven goals in nine Austrian Bundesliga matches so far.
Last season, he plundered 22 in 32 games in the division.
He is a fine finisher, technically strong and loves a tussle.
Hendry has shown signs of improvement but must bring his A-game against Dabour to make some supporters think twice about him.
