Kieran Tierney continued his impressive form since the restart as Arsenal booked their place in the FA Cup semi-finals with a late win over Sheffield United – and Celtic skipper Scott Brown, as well as Filip Benkovic reacted.
Joining Arsenal from Scottish champions Celtic last summer for a fee of £25million, 23-year-old Tierney has endured numerous injury issues – limiting him to just 11 appearances throughout 2019-20 before the suspension.
However, since football has returned, Tierney has arguably been Arsenal’s best performer. He has featured in all four of Arsenal’s matches since the return, and has excelled as the left side of a three-man defence.
Nicolas Pepe gave Arsenal the lead against Chris Wilder’s Blades, only for David McGoldrick to score in the 87th minute. But Dani Ceballos netted an injury-time winner, and Tierney posted on Instagram after the match.
Tierney has now clocked up 15 in total and is likely to surpass 20 by the end of the season, as the Scotland international finally looks to put his injury woes behind him. Arsenal face Manchester City in the semi-finals.
Responding to his post, Celtic captain and Tierney’s close friend Brown applauded the left-footer – while former Celtic loanee Benkovic described the Arsenal ace as a “Rolls Royce”.
