Celtic are reportedly looking into the signature of West Bromwich Albion midfielder Rekeem Harper. The Daily Mail is reporting that Celtic want to bring the 19-year-old talent to the club on a free transfer, with his contract at West Brom ending this summer.
The report claims that former recruitment chief Lee Congerton put the wheels in motion for the deal. Harper was, reportedly, even present to watch Celtic’s final game of the season against Hearts.
It would certainly be a fantastic piece of recruitment from Celtic. The Bhoys need some recruitment in the heart of midfield and with Olivier Ntcham’s future appearing unclear, Harper could be a brilliant replacement.

It is a transfer strategy that has worked before. Celtic had to pay a minimal compensation fee to sign Moussa Dembele when his contract expired at Fulham in 2016. Like Harper, he was just 19 when he agreed to become a Celtic player. He went on to score 51 goals in 91 games for the club and was sold to Lyon last summer.
As reported by BBC Sport, Celtic received £19.7 million for the player and with a sell-on clause included they could still be set for more cash windfall.
Harper is just as talented as Dembele was at 19 and the England youth star impressed in the second half of the 2018-19 campaign.
Celtic could be on to another Dembele-like winner if they can secure the teenager’s signature this summer.
