It has been reported by the Daily Mail this week that Celtic remain interested in signing Omar Elabdellaoui having attempted to sign the right-back in the summer.
The Hoops look much stronger at right-back this term. But the Mail suggests that they have sent scouts to watch the Norway international during this break.
The depth that Celtic have in his position perhaps highlights just how highly-rated he is by Neil Lennon. And the Mail reports that he is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.
It would appear therefore, to be a real coup for Celtic if they can sign the 27-year-old. And based on the latest reports concerning his future, perhaps a deal for the Hoops could prove to be even sweeter than they would imagine.
That is because the Mail is suggesting that five Premier League sides also want the former Manchester City man, including Leicester City.
Beating Brendan Rodgers to his signature would be a real statement for Celtic.
Given his contract situation, he could easily prove to be an inspired signing for the Bhoys. And if he does move to Parkhead, his popularity will arguably increase immediately given that Rodgers will be one of those who misses out on landing him.
