New Celtic signing Albian Ajeti has told Herald Scotland that he believes a partnership of himself and Odsonne Edouard could really thrive.

The 23-year-old signed for £5 million yesterday from Premier League outfit West Ham United and is already preparing for life in the Celtic team.

It will be interesting to see what the club’s new number 10 does in the Scottish Premiership, having failed to make an impact in England.

Ajeti is already sounding optimistic, however, and believes he and Edouard could form something really special at Celtic Park.

He told Herald Scotland: “I have seen some of his games and I think he and I could be a good match. We could be perfect together.

“If you have two quite good strikers, it’s always good for a team. We will both be in the box, always there when it can be dangerous.

“I might be a smaller striker than he is, but I think it’s a good match.”

Ousting Edouard from the team isn’t really an option for Ajeti, given his devastating knack of scoring goals.

During 2019/20 he netted 27 in all competitions to go alongside 19 assists in the green and white of Celtic.

In total, the Frenchman has netted 63 goals in 128 appearances and Ajeti clearly relishes the chance to play alongside him.

The beauty of signing Ajeti is that should Celtic get an offer they can’t refuse for the 22-year-old, they will be well-stocked in reserve.

A Swiss performer, Ajeti never really got a true crack of the whip at West Ham, making just a handful of appearances – largely from the bench.

Celtic could be his chance to shine and at 23, the Hoops have secured a player who could thrive for years to come.
