Celtic should revisit transfer stance as Peter Ankersen situation gets interesting

Celtic are said to still be in the hunt for a new right-back this summer. Despite the arrival of Hatem Abd Elhamed, the Bhoys need further cover in the full-back position.

One name that has been mentioned in the past is Copenhagen defender Peter Ankersen. The Danish international, who has represented his country on 22 occasions, was linked with Celtic earlier this summer.

However, the Daily Record reported at the end of June that Celtic had ‘cooled’ their interest in the 28-year-old.

But this week it has emerged that Ankersen is available. As reported by Jyllands-Posten, Copenhagen boss Stale Solbaken has confirmed that Ankersen will leave the club this month.

So should Celtic reignite their interest?

At the moment it looks like Ankersen could be set for a shock move to AC Milan. As reported by Tutto Mercato Web, the Italian giants are hopeful of a €2 million (£1.8m) deal for the player. Two Premier League clubs are also said to be keen.

At that price, for a player of this quality, Celtic should surely be back in the running for the player.

They would undoubtedly offer him the best chance of regular first-team football and always have European football as a major ace up their sleeve.

With it likely Ankersen is available and at such a low price, Celtic should surely be considering resuming their interest in his services.
