Celtic winger Jonny Hayes is one of a few players on the fringes at Parkhead this season and manager Brendan Rodgers should consider offloading him in January.
The 31-year-old attacker has made just three first-team appearances all season and it seems unlikely that he can make a serious breakthrough into the side moving forward.
He is an Irish winger that proved his qualities in the Scottish Premiership with former club Aberdeen, but he’s not quite had the ability to make the step up in class for the Bhoys since he joined in 2017.
There are a number of wide men above him in the pecking order within Brendan Rodgers’ squad and he’s not been able to get a look-in despite a hectic fixture schedule.
Celtic have enough quality in reserve to cope without Hayes and at his age he should still have ambition to be playing regular first-team football.
His contract with the Scottish giants is due to expire in 2020 and it would be interesting to see what suitors came in for his signature if he became available.
Rodgers needs to have players in his squad competing for places and putting pressure on the starting XI, but that’s something Hayes is unable to do anymore.
