Celtic should think about making a move for Reading defender Matt Miazga this summer.
The 23-year-old has been on loan at the Madejski Stadium since January from Chelsea, and has really caught the eye in the Championship.
Miazga, who started the season on loan at French club Nantes, has made 13 appearances for the Royals and is already a fans’ favourite.
The USA international was a rock at the back against Brentford on Saturday, and fans of the club are hoping he will stay at their club beyond the current season.
Miazga has said of his future, as quoted by The Reading Chronicle: “It’s one week at a time and we’ll see what happens in the summer but obviously I’ve got to keep my options open.”
Celtic are facing losing two centre-halves this summer, with Dedryck Boyata out of contract, and Filip Benkovic to return to parent club Leicester City.
The Hoops will need to invest, and Miazga could be a very shrewd signing.
He is highly unlikely to be given a chance at Stamford Bridge, and Celtic should consider stealing in. Since signing in 2016, he has only ever made two first-team appearances which is not encouraging for the player at all.
Miazga is a solid and towering defender; standing at an imposing 6ft 4in tall. He is aerially dominant, and is also handy with the ball at his feet.
It sounds as though he is enjoying his time with Reading so it could be a difficult task trying to sign him, but Celtic’s lure is undeniable.
