Celtic should consider brilliant loan swoop for Mason Holgate
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers should consider reinforcing his options in defence during the January transfer window and a new centre-back would be a great addition.
Dedryck Boyata, Filip Benkovic, Kristoffer Ajer and Jozo Simunovic are the main senior options at Parkhead this season in the heart of defence.
But the Bhoys should look to add real quality in the shape of English defender Mason Holgate.
According to the Mirror, Premier League club Everton are prepared to loan out Holgate for the second half of the season.
The report details that Premier League and Championship clubs are already queuing up to try snap up the 22-year-old on a temporary deal.
But Celtic should move ahead of the rest by offering him an escape route from Goodison Park.
Holgate is a highly-rated talent at the Merseyside club and if unfortunate to be on the sidelines this season, as Everton added Yerry Mina and Kurt Zouma to their squad.
But the English centre-back has still made seven senior appearances this campaign and has had experience in European football before.
He is a composed defender that is strong on the ball and in the air, while Rodgers could be the perfect coach to help him improve.
Holgate also has the versatility to slot in at right-back and could be a major boost for Celtic in the Europa League if they qualify for the knockout rounds.
