Celtic should clinch yet another title if they win festive clash against Rangers

There is a genuine title race on the cards in Scotland this season and the festive period offers an ideal chance to predict the outcome.

Celtic showed their credentials in the Betfred Cup final, showing that they are still capable of scooping silverware even on their off days.

The nature of that defeat must have enthused Neil Lennon and his players; even on Rangers’ best day in terms of performance, it was still Celtic who lifted the trophy.

That may have created a feeling of inevitability over Celtic’s ability to pick up domestic trophies, but Rangers will surely be out for revenge when they travel to Parkhead this Sunday.

It will have a big impact on the title race, either way. Can Celtic be caught if they pick up their third win of the season over the Gers?

TBR’s View – Title will be Celtic’s once more if they win festive clash

That final did show that Rangers are now capable of dominating their bitter rivals and if Celtic play that poorly again, they can expect to be punished.

But winning the Betfred Cup landed a mental blow. And grabbing the three points in the festive clash would land another which would prove too difficult for Rangers to recover from.

Neither side is dropping too many points against the lesser teams in the division, meaning Celtic would feel confident of maintaining that lead if they opened it up.
