Tierney denies surgery claims

Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney has denied claims he may need to undergo surgery (via The Scotsman).

The defender has been struggling with a hip problem of late, but has started the last four games for the Bhoys. He has just pulled out of international duty, but not because of a recurrence of that issue – he now has a groin injury (The Daily Record).

He said: “I never came out and said I had a hip injury, but apparently I was going for a hip operation and it was the same one as Andy Murray.

“It’s funny how things grow arms and legs. People say one thing and it leads to another. My mates always send me rumours flying around about me. I don’t know where some of it comes from.”

Martinez to Celtic?

Former Partick Thistle boss Gerry Collins believes Celtic are in talks with Belgium manager Roberto Martinez about succeeding Brendan Rodgers as the club’s next permanent boss.
Appearing on RockSport Radio, he said (quoted by The Scotsman): He said: “I genuinely believe Martinez and Shaun Maloney [will be hired]. I don’t think the deal is done, I think they’re still negotiating on that deal.”

For the moment, of course, Neil Lennon is in temporary chard at Parkhead after Rodgers walked out to join Leicester City.

Should he deliver the Treble Treble, the powers that be may have no choice but to hire the former midfielder permanently.

Rose hint

Reported Celtic managerial target Marco Rose has hinted he could leave RB Salzburg.

The German has admitted that he has some options on the table and that a decision about his future will have to be made this summer.

Rose has been touted as a potential replacement for Rodgers, after impressing at the helm of the Austrian outfit.

He told Sky Sports Austria (quoted by The Daily Record): “I think it’s not so often in your career, that you have a lot of requests and then you have a lot of options.

“I know what I owe the club, and yet at some point it’s about my personal situation, about goals, about new challenges, and about making a decision.”
