Players want ‘Lennon’
Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic has revealed he and his Celtic teammates want Neil Lennon to become first-team manager on a permanent basis.
The interim boss is doing a decent job of seeing the job through at Parkhead following Brendan Rodgers’ shock departure in February.
Lennon is yet to lose a game following his return, and he is seemingly a popular figure amongst his squad.
Simunovic said, as quoted by The Herald: “Things are going really well. It is all good. But it’s not just me, I think other players want it to happen.
“This situation just keeps going well and we’re going to see.”
Jack Hendry has picked up an injury during a reserve team match against Rangers (via Rangers’ Twitter live commentary).
The £1.5 million Brendan Rodgers signing (The Daily Record) was withdrawn after just 49 minutes, and will now wait to find out the extent of the issue.
Celtic are yet to announce what the exact nature of the issue is, but it’s certainly the last thing Hendry needs if he had any hopes of appearing for the first-team again this season.
Former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele has emerged as a surprise target for Manchester United this summer.
The Red Devils are said to be ‘keeping tabs’ on the Lyon striker (The Mirror), who has bagged 18 goals so far this season.
Celtic apparently included a sell-on clause when they sold him last summer (The Scotsman), so the Bhoys will secure 10% of any fee he moves for.
Since Dembele has had a good first season with Lyon, United would undoubtedly have to pay far more than the near-£20 million it took the French club to sign him (The Independent) – meaning Celtic could be in line for well over £2 million if he does move this summer.
