Celtic round-up: Palace eye Burke, Gordon warns Bain, derby boost

Crystal Palace are eyeing a move for Oliver Burke this summer (Daily Mail, via The Daily Record).

The Scot has been in decent form, scoring four goals for the Hoops in 13 appearances.

Celtic never included an option to buy when they took the player on a temporary basis, so they may now face a struggle to keep him at Parkhead with Palace now reportedly entering the picture.

Gordon warns Bain

Craig Gordon has issued a warning to Scott Bain that he is hoping to dislodge him as the number one for both Celtic and Scotland.

Gordon lost his place to the younger stopper at the start of the year, and then got injured as a result of ‘over-training’ (The Daily Record).

The veteran has been nursing a knee problem, but refuses to accept that Bain has won the war.

He said on Sky Sports’ live coverage of Scotland vs Kazakhstan, quoted by 67 Hail Hail: “He could play (Bain for Scotland) for many years to come.

“Hopefully I might get back there yet. I’ve had a few injuries at the moment. But I can get back in there and challenge him at Celtic and possibly for that international spot as well.”

Derby boost

“We’ve got a bounce game on Friday, hopefully, behind closed doors that they can get some minutes into their legs,” said Lennon.

“And then hopefully they will be declared fit for the game in a couple of weeks.”

Neither Ntcham nor Rogic have featured for the club in 2019 thus far.
