Celtic round-up: Fixtures rearranged, Fran Sol linked, Motherwell buildup
Celtic have announced that two of their Scottish Premiership fixtures have changed dates after they were drawn against Valencia in the Europa League round of 32.
via The Daily Record, the Bhoys take on the Spanish outfit in the first leg at the Mestalla Stadium on February 14, and the return leg at Parkhead will take place on February.
It’s the return leg that has caused the change; so Celtic will now face Motherwell on February 24th not the 23rd, and Hearts on February 27th, not the 26th.
Fran Sol linked
TeamTalk, via The Hartlepool Mail, have reported that Celtic will battle Middlesbrough, Rangers, Swansea and Leeds for ex-Real Madrid striker Fran Sol.
Sol currently plies his trade with Willem II in the Netherlands and has scored 38 goals in 79 league games.
He left the Bernabeu in 2014 to join Villarreal B, after failing to break into los Blancos’ first-team.
Sol will be out of contract at the end of the season, but Willem have the option to extend his deal by a further year.
Celtic could return to the top of the Scottish Premiership tonight with a victory over Motherwell.
The Hoops are in action at Parkhead, with league leaders Rangers away to Hibernian.
Currently Celtic are just a point behind their rivals and will now be hoping Hibs can do them a favour after they beat them 2-0 on Saturday.
Dedryck Boyata, Mikael Lustig, Ryan Christie, Tom Rogic, Leigh Griffiths, Eboue Kouassi and Daniel Arzani are all unavailable for Brendan Rodgers, as reported by The Metro.
Predicted lineup: Gordon/Ajer, Benkovic, Simunovic, Tierney/Brown, Ntcham, McGregor/Sinclair, Forrest, Edouard.
