Celtic are still in the market for a couple of signings before Monday’s midnight deadline with AC Milan star Diego Laxalt expected to complete a move to the Scottish champions – and here is a midday round-up of the latest news.
Laxalt permanent clause
The Hoops are expected to complete a move for Laxalt, with Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claiming a deal is agreed and the player will join on loan. The 27-year-old is expected to jet into London, where he will have a medical.
Italian website Voce Giallorossa have claimed that a permanent clause will be included in a move for Laxalt – set at a pricey £9million. Such a fee would see the Hoops match the club-record fee they spent to sign Odsonne Edouard.
Doughty price tag, January?
Charlton Athletic winger Alfie Doughty has been linked with Celtic for the majority of the window and the Hoops can land the 20-year-old for a bargain £1million, according to the Scottish Sun’s deadline day blog (Monday, 9.57am).
The Hoops, though, are struggling to reach that figure. Instead, they are deciding against making a third offer after failing to sign Doughty with two cash sums. His contract expires next summer, and Celtic are eyeing a pre-contract in January.
Tottenham bid rejected, Celtic miss out
Celtic have a 10% sell-on clause in Moussa Dembele’s contract and the Scottish Sun (Monday, 11.52am) state that the Hoops have missed out on a big windfall of cash – after Tottenham Hotspur had a bid rejected for the French forward.
Spurs have since signed uncapped Brazilian ace Carlos Vinicius on a loan-to-buy deal.
