Bayo’s Vienna push
Transfer target Vakoun Issouf Bayo has been urged to steer clear of Celtic by Dunajska Streda’s goalkeeping coach, as reported by The Scottish Sun.
The Bhoys are keen to sign the 18-goal striker and have tabled a £1.8 million offer for the Ivorian which was rejected according to Sky Sports.
Apparently Rapid Vienna have now joined the race to sign Bayo, and Streda’s goalkeeping coach Jan Novota has pushed the forward in the direction of his old club rather than Celtic.
TV pundit and former Celtic star Charlie Nicholas thinks the club should make a January move for Newcastle United’s Freddie Woodman this month (via The Scotsman).
Nicholas is unconvinced by Scott Bain, and believes the Magpies stopper could be a good fit for the Bhoys, having played in Scotland previously for Kilmarnock and Aberdeen.
He said: “He has real potential. He could also push into the England squad and add real value so now’s a good time to make a move for him.”
Woodman is currently in competition with Martin Dubravka and Rob Elliot for minutes at St. James’ Park.
Youngsters on tour
Youngsters Ewan Henderson and Ryan Mullen will join up with the first-team for winter training activities in Dubai (The Scotsman).
Brendan Rodgers appears keep to find out if either can stake a potential claim for his first-team, with Henderson out of contract in the summer.
Mullen is now the third-choice goalkeeper behind Craig Gordon and Doris de Vries, after Conor Hazard went on loan to Partick Thistle.
