Celtic new boy Vakoun Issouf Bayo has been left out of Brendan Rodgers’ Europa League squad (The Scotsman).
The Ivorian hitman, who is yet to make his Hoops debut, is the unfortunate player to miss out after only thee places were up for grabs.
Other new signings Oliver Burke, Timothy Weah and Jeremy Toljan have all been included.
Celtic will hope that the decision doesn’t come back to bite them if they can get beyond Valencia in the last 16 of the competition.
Burke hints at stay
Oliver Burke has only just pitched up at Parkhead on loan from West Bromwich Albion, but he’s already hinted at a permanent move.
Burke has started well so far having scored twice for his new club.
He said as quoted by The Scotsman: “But if I’m enjoying my football, then I want to stay. It’s an amazing club to be at, the fans are great, we have a great manager so what’s not to love? I’m really happy so we’ll just have to see what happens.”
Burke, understood to want to settle down after playing for five different clubs in four years, will be hoping to continue his good run against Hibernian on Wednesday.
Boyata to return?
Defender Dedryck Boyata could return for Celtic against Hibernian on Wednesday (The Herald).
The Belgian international has been nursing a groin injury since the Scottish Cup victory over Airdrieonians last month.
Boyata is back in training and is in contention to return to the starting lineup, which would be a major boost given the number of other injuries at present for the Bhoys.
Assistant manager Chris Davies said: “Boyata trained today having been out for a couple of weeks. We’ll see how he reacts to that and then see what his availability is like for Wednesday night.”
