Celtic reportedly scouted Greg Taylor this weekend

Celtic are still interested in a deal for Kilmarnock defender Greg Taylor, according to the Daily Record.

The report claims that Celtic scouted the versatile 21-year-old in action against Hamilton this weekend. Killie boss Angelo Alessio is adamant that Taylor will not be sold, but with Celtic flush from the sale of Kieran Tierney the Parkhead club would surely be able to pluck him away from their Rugby Park rivals.

Taylor himself spoke about his future this weekend. As reported by The Scottish Sun, the 21-year-old confirmed he was still happy to remain at Killie and that no bids have come in from Celtic for his services.

“I’ve not had to speak to the manager about it yet because there’s not been a bid come in for me.

“There were two offers from Nurnberg earlier in the window, but both were rejected so it was out of my hands. I just got on with training at Kilmarnock.”

Celtic clearly need to bring in another left-back and Taylor looks a perfect replacement for his international team-mate Tierney.

He would have done his chances of a Celtic move no harm at the weekend, as he played a role in Dom Thomas’ winning goal in the Betfred Cup clash with Hamilton.

The former Rangers youth player has the ability to become a top left-back and also has the versatility to play in midfield.

Kilmarnock will not be easy to do business with. They have already, according to Taylor himself, knocked back German transfer interest on two occasions this summer and will not be willing to lose Taylor on the cheap.
