Celtic are reportedly one of three clubs interested in FC Barcelona youngster Mika Marmol.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Scottish Premiership giants are keen on the Spain U-20 international. However, the report does not state if Celtic are keen on Marmol on a loan deal or a permanent transfer.
A manager’s dream player
The versatile defender is highly regarded at the Catalan club. Barcelona’s official website describes Marmol as ‘a quick left-back with a good first touch’. Whilst Barca Universal label the youngster as ‘any manager’s dream player,’ due to how adaptable the 19-year-old can be.
Although Marmol is yet to even train with the senior team, the teenager has had an impressive year with Barcelona’s B team. The left-back has made 25 league appearances in the third-tier of Spain, scoring twice and assisting one in all competitions.

Celtic are likely to be busy in the summer market this year. With Eddie Howe expected to join the club as manager in the coming weeks, the former Bournemouth boss will have plenty of decisions to make.
Several Celtic players have also been linked with transfers away, namely Norwegian international Kristoffer Ajer and 23-year-old striker Odsonne Edouard.

Marmol fits in Celtic’s future plans
With Barcelona rating Marmol highly, we are looking at a player with not only some impressive quality but also huge potential. And these two traits could make the teenager a perfect fit for the direction Celtic want to go in.

The Hoops are eager to overthrow Rangers off their perch at the top of Scottish football as quickly as possible. And making smart signings will be a good step into achieving this goal.
Marmol might not have featured for Barcelona’s first-team yet, but the praise he has won from both the club and supporters makes the 19-year-old an intriguing proposition for Celtic.
