Celtic reportedly agree to sign West Ham striker on permanent deal

Celtic are not going to take Albian Ajeti on loan, according to the Daily Record, but only because they have agreed to sign the West Ham United forward on a permanent basis.

Ajeti has been linked with a Parkhead switch for much of the window. And it appeared that a move was close to being completed earlier this week with Sky Sports reporting that he was in Glasgow for a medical.

Interestingly, Sky Sports suggested that a loan move with an option to buy was set to be finalised. But the latest reports suggest that that may not be the case.

In fact, the Daily Record has suggested that Celtic have agreed to pay £5 million this summer to sign the Hammers forward permanently.

And it has been suggested by the Record that Ajeti is on the brink of signing for the Hoops.

TBR View: All parties will welcome £5m move

Of course, having been told recently that Ajeti was in Glasgow to complete a move, some Celtic fans may be sceptical about getting carried away by the latest reports.

But it does appear that a permanent deal would work out well for all parties. West Ham will receive a reasonable fee for a player who struggled to make an impact at the London Stadium.

Meanwhile, Celtic are seemingly on the verge of signing a striker who boasted a very impressive record before he joined the Hammers.

And if he can return to that sort of level at Parkhead, £5 million may quickly look like an absolute steal from the Hoops.
