Celtic predicted XI to play Dundee United: Ajeti starts, Brown benched

Celtic face Dundee United this afternoon knowing that anything other than a win will hand Rangers an unassailable lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

The Hoops have endured a torrid campaign and John Kennedy will hope to see some pride in his team’s performance this afternoon.

There really isn’t a great deal to lose for the Hoops now and they should at least relax a bit this afternoon.

Ahead of the lunch-time showdown, we looked at the team which Kennedy could go with today.

In goal and back four

Scott Bain is the man currently in possession of the gloves and he should continue this afternoon.

Greg Taylor should play at left-back, preferred to Diego Laxalt who started last time out.

Stephen Welsh and Kristoffer Ajer kept a clean sheet in the 1-0 win over Aberdeen and both players could get the nod again today.

Everton loanee Jonjoe Kenny will keep his place at right-back.

It seems likely that Kennedy will stick with the tried and tested diamond in midfield, but there could be some personnel changes.

Ismaila Soro has been Celtic’s bright spark this season and he should start at the base of the diamond.

David Turnbull and Callum McGregor have also been decent this season and will be tasked with keeping the engine room ticking over.

In the hold behind two strikers, Ryan Christie looks set to start again.

In attack

Odsonne Edouard scored the winner last time out and he will spearhead the attack this afternoon.

Patryk Klimala played at Aberdeen but he could make way this afternoon for Albian Ajeti.

The £4.5 million player hasn’t enjoyed a great maiden campaign in Scotland, scoring just six times.

He could, however, earn another chance to shine this afternoon.
