Celtic need to trim their squad and Scott Allan should be the first man to leave.
Brendan Rodgers has recently stated that his squad is “very, very bloated”. And therefore a few players are up for the axe when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Allan is a talented player but he needs to move elsewhere for the sake of his career.
His last outing for Celtic was back in May 2016 and his future looks bleak in Glasgow.
After loan spells with Rotherham United, Dundee and Hibernian in the last couple of years, it is time for the 26-year-old to move away from Celtic permanently.
The former Scotland under-21 international joined the Bhoys in summer 2015 but has barely got a look-in.
He has been with Celtic for over three years now but Allan has only played 17 games in total for the club. And that includes just three starts.
It is clear that things are not working out for him with the Scottish champions and there are too many good midfielders blocking his path to the first-team.
Allan’s Celtic exit works for all parties. Celtic get him off their wage bill, Allan gets to play some football and his new club will have a talented midfield man ready to prove a point.
