Celtic must repeat off-putting Kieran Tierney tactic to avoid damaging exit

Arsenal are reportedly ready to step up their pursuit of Celtic defender Kieran Tierney. According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal boss Unai Emery is a big fan of the Celtic star and is looking to bring him to London.

The report mentions an offer in the region of £25 million may be in the offing for the player.

But surely Celtic will ask for more than that?

A year ago it was Everton who wanted the talented full-back. However, as reported by the Liverpool Echo, the Toffees decided to pull the plug on a deal over his £25 million price-tag.

Everton felt that was too much to spend on a player with no Premier League or comparable experience. They managed to get Lucas Digne from Barcelona for less, a deal that has worked out well.

Celtic will, however, have to be stern with Arsenal and ask for the same amount if not more for Tierney 12 months down the line.

The full-back is not pushing for a move so Celtic are not under pressure to sell and should only do so when Arsenal put in a bid that is considered too good to turn down.

With that in mind, £25 million is the least Celtic should be asking for this summer.
