Celtic must hope for better January window after last year’s woeful business

The Daily Mail is reporting that Celtic are prepared to let Jack Hendry leave the club on loan. Not only is he expected to depart, but so is Marvin Compper. The German, who cost a reported £1 million a year ago, has rarely featured for Celtic and has been told he can leave.

Both players only joined the club 12 months ago and Celtic need to have a better transfer window a year down the line.

The other recruits that winter were Lewis Morgan, Charly Musonda and Scott Bain.

Morgan looks a talented player but injuries have been his problem. Musonda was a flop and Celtic fans never saw the best of the Belgian talent. Bain is perhaps the only success, proving more than capable of matching up to Craig Gordon when called into action.

A year down the line, it is incredible to think that only Bain and Morgan might end up finishing the season as Celtic players.

Hendry has struggled when called into action and the 23-year-old needs some time on loan to get back in form. Compper has simply never looked up to scratch.

Lee Congerton, the club’s current recruitment chief, is reportedly wanted at Anderlecht, according to the same report.

If that is the case then Celtic fans will look back at last January and start packing his bags for him.

A better winter is needed with Rangers breathing down their necks. Hopefully, Celtic can do a lot better this January.
