Fenerbahce winger Bright Osayi-Samuel has been linked with a move to both Celtic and Rangers this summer. The Hoops simply have to win the race and must do whatever it takes to snare Steven Gerrard.

New Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou will get down to work in the coming days. He’s now arrived in Glasgow and as a result, he will want to enter the transfer market

The Australian replaces Neil Lennon and his remit of reclaiming the Scottish Premiership title is crystal clear.

For him to do that though new players will be required. The likes of Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie could leave, paving the way for some new recruits.

Both of the Old Firm clubs are keen to sign the ex-QPR winger, according to Fotospor. Rangers recently made the first move and saw a bid of £2.5 million rejected.

That has given Celtic a window of opportunity. They need to steal a march on the Gers and place a bid of their own.

Fenerbahce want to recoup £3.5 million for the trickster. He only signed for the Turkish giants in January but has struggled to settle.

He made 18 appearances in Turkey, scoring one goal and claiming one assists. Osayi-Samuel did make 11 starts and was largely used on the right wing.

Celtic need Osayi-Samuel

Rangers pushing ahead with a bid does seem odd. Gerrard has Ianis Hagi and Ryan Kent as his main wide options, with Kemar Roofe and Joe Aribo also capable of playing there.

Celtic aren’t blessed with such an embarrassment of riches. James Forrest wasn’t at his best during 2020/21, whilst Mo Elyounoussi has returned to Southampton.

The Hoops are desperately short out wide. With that in mind, signing Osayi-Samuel makes perfect sense.

Postecoglou has a knack of getting the best out of younger players. At 23, Osayi-Samuel could be the type of player to really excel at Parkhead and they need to act.

The manager likes to play attacking football. A former QPR youngster, Osayi-Samuel loves to play on the front foot and he boasts a massive amount of pace.

Celtic can’t delay when it comes to new recruits and as a result, they simply have to beat Rangers to the former Championship trickster.
