Celtic manager Neil Lennon has insisted that his side should be crowned champions if the league is unable to be completed.

The Scottish FA confirmed on its official website on Friday that all domestic professional and grassroots football has been suspended until further notice.

The SFA have taken the necessary precautions regarding health and safety following the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Celtic were preparing to face Old Firm rivals Rangers this weekend in the Scottish Premiership, but that match will no longer take place and clubs in Scotland will have to wait to hear when any action could resume.

The Bhoys sit 13 points clear at the top of the league table as it stands chasing a ninth straight title.

Lennon has shown his support behind the decision to suspend fixtures, but at the same time added that his team have to be awarded the title if the season can’t be finished, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.

TBR’s View:

Fans will now have to be patient regarding news of when any football can resume in Scotland and the same goes for clubs while this coronavirus issue is ongoing.

An ideal scenario would see teams finish the season at a later date with the campaign pushed back a month or further, as there could be no arguments then from anyone.

Celtic are the outstanding team once again in Scotland this season and will want to win the title by finishing the season, but you can understand where Lennon is coming from with his comments.
