Andrew Gutman has posted on Twitter after scoring his first professional goal on his debut for Charlotte Independence, after joining the American side on loan from Celtic.
Celtic opted to sign the American on a free after a successful trial. The 22-year-old defender was immediately loaned to second-tier American side Charlotte Independence, who play in the league below the MLS.
Gutman, who started out at MLS side Chicago Fire’s academy, is a left-back that is more than willing to get forward. A goal on his debut for Independence proves just that.
The left-sided flyer rose highest to meet a looping ball to the back post and head home. He posted on Twitter, stating that he was disappointed to lose the match but happy to score his first goal at professional level.

Gutman is on loan with the American side until November 2019, when the USL season finishes. He has a contract at Celtic until the summer of 2022, and could become Kieran Tierney’s back-up.
Emilio Izaguirre’s contract at the Scottish champions is set to expire in the summer, while youngster Calvin Miller has been sent on loan to Ayr United and Dundee this season.
Celtic fans reacted to Gutman’s Tweet with many Hoops supporters congratulating the American ace. Others Tweeted that they are looking forward to seeing the American play in green and white.
