Celtic legend Davie Hay has told the Evening Times of his delight that Kristoffer Ajer has found consistency.

Hay played for and managed the Hoops and he is warming to Ajer’s style of defending.

The legend’s comments come in the aftermath of Sunday’s ill-tempered Old Firm derby which Celtic won 2-1.

The Norwegian has become a regular in the side since the turn of the year and the 20-year-old is playing exceptionally well.

Hay is delighted that he has found his feet and praised the youngster.

He told the Evening Times: “I thought he (Ajer) was excellent against Rangers.

“As a defender, you have to defend. I just love the way he comes out from the back with the ball at his feet and head in the air, looking to find a team-mate with a pass.

He’s found his consistency and when tempers did flare he was right in the middle of it. He showed his steel.”

The £500k signing (The Sun) will look to keep his place in Neil Lennon’s team when they face Livingston tomorrow.

TBR Verdict

Hay is spot on to suggest that Ajer has become more consistent.

Lennon has trusted him to start games on a more frequent basis and his hamstring problems seem behind him.

At just 20-years-old Celtic have a player on their hands who can become a club legend.

He will only go from strength to strength and he could save the Hoops a fortune in this summer’s transfer market.
