Celtic want to open talks over a fresh contract with highly-rated defensive talent Kristoffer Ajer, according to a report in the Daily Record.
The Norwegian defender signed for Celtic as a free agent in 2016 and is now considered ‘untouchable’ by Neil Lennon who says he isn’t for sale.
Celtic were miserably dumped out of the Champions League on Tuesday night and Lennon is keen to tie-down one of his top performers.
Italian giants AC Milan were keen on adding the youngster to their ranks earlier in the summer. The Hoops boss is now hopeful of handing Ajer a new deal.

The 21-year-old is a regular in the Norway team and has nailed down a place at centre-back during his time at Celtic Park.
Brendan Rodgers at Leicester was thought to be keen earlier in the summer. With the transfer window in England now closed, however, nothing is imminent there.
TBR Verdict – Ajer would be wise to stay at Celtic…for now
The Norwegian would be extremely wise to stick around at Celtic for a little while longer.
For starters, Ajer is playing football every week at Celtic Park and at his age that is exactly what is needed.
He could go to a top European league but there are no guarantees he would be a starter just yet.

With his career still in its infancy, there is lots of time left for him to test himself on a bigger stage. For now, however, he should remain loyal to Celtic.
Okay, so it’s a disappointment that qualification for the Champions League hasn’t been secured, but the Europa League is still on the cards if the Hoops can edge past AIK.
Right now Ajer is at the best place for his development and he would be wise to stick at Celtic Park.
