Prior to joining Championship outfit Aston Villa in August 2018, John McGinn very nearly signed for Scottish giants Celtic.

On leaving Hibernian, McGinn opted to snub his boyhood club and move to English football.

The move has looked a wise one and the 24-year-old has taken to life in the Championship with absolute aplomb.

The Villans are well in with a chance of promotion to the Premier League and Dean Smith is getting the very best out of McGinn.

Scotland kicked off their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign earlier today, with the Villa man included in Alex McLeish’s starting eleven to face Kazhakstan.

The Scots were embarrassed 3-0 by the minnows and some Celtic fans were enjoying making their point that McGinn perhaps isn’t as good as some people have been making out.

Villa’s man of the moment struggled to impose himself for over an hour before being subbed in the 69th minute.

Some Hoops supporters quite enjoyed seeing him struggle, with many not sure what all the fuss is about regarding the midfielder.

As many Celtic supporters took to social media to speak of McGinn’s performance, we rounded up the best tweets from the Parkhead faithful.
