Four ins and outs Celtic could complete this week

Celtic are going to be the heavy favourites to win the Scottish Premier League again this season and they remain active in the transfer market.

It can be difficult for the club to compete at the top end of the market, with players preferring a move to England due to the chance to progress. That said, they have made a number of shrewd signings in recent seasons, which has allowed them to be competitive in Europe.

The main draw of a move to Celtic Park is the opportunity to play in the Champions League. The club recorded an excellent first leg victory over Rosenberg in qualifying and the objective will be to reach the group stage. Below we discuss four ins and outs that could happen at Celtic this week.

John McGinn – Hibernian

This has been a long-running saga throughout the summer and it could be set to drag on until the closing stages of the window. The Sunday Mail report that Celtic won’t increase their £2 million bid for the midfielder.

This has created a stand-off as Hibernian don’t want to accept this offer and are hoping for interest from other clubs to spark Celtic into offering more for the midfielder. If an increased bid isn’t forthcoming, McGinn may be forced to stay where he is.

Celtic have until August 31 to complete their business and they may wait until the English transfer deadline passes before pushing to complete a move for McGinn. However, things can change quickly in football and this deal could progress this week.

Daniel Arzani – Melbourne City

Celtic have developed a good relationship with Manchester City in recent seasons with Patrick Roberts and Olivier Ntcham arriving at Celtic Park. They could be set to land another City youngster in Daniel Arzani.

The Mail report that Manchester City are close to completing a permanent deal for the Australian international from sister club Melbourne City. They will then loan him out for experience and Celtic are leading the chase for his signature.

Arzani is an exciting player capable of beating defenders on the dribble and his versatility means he can play a number of forward positions. He is ready for a bigger stage and this is a deal that could be completed in the next week.

Kieran Tierney – Fulham

Fulham have been one of the standout clubs in the transfer window this summer and they are ready to launch a raid on Celtic Park. The Sun report that the Cottagers have joined the race for Kieran Tierney and they are ready to test Celtic’s resolve with a record bid.

There has been a lot of interest in Tierney this summer and there is no doubting that he is ready to test himself in a more competitive division. He is very much a modern day full-back who can thrive in both halves of the pitch. It is not a surprise that he is in demand.

Celtic will be hopeful of keeping him, but Fulham have been very efficient at agreeing deals this summer. If their interest is genuine, it could move quickly.

Olivier Ntcham – West Ham United

During recent seasons, Celtic have been vulnerable to Premier League clubs and that trend could continue this summer. L’Equipe reported last week that West Ham United had enquired about French midfielder Olivier Ntcham.

Last season, Ntcham showed flashes of his brilliance for Celtic, but there is a feeling that there is more to come from the Frenchman. He established himself as a regular starter and his dynamism made him an exciting player to watch.

West Ham may have enquired about the possibility of a deal as they attempt to fill the hole in their squad created by Manuel Lanzini’s injury. However, this would be a difficult transfer for them to pull off.
