Celtic fans want 24-year-old signed after Sunday display, Rangers also keen

Jeando Fuchs spoke out over the weekend regarding his future, the Dundee United man confirming Celtic and Rangers had held talks over a move – and Celtic fans have discussed his performance.

Of course, Celtic took on Dundee United at Tannadice – comfortably winning 3-0. David Turnbull, Tom Rogic and Liam Scales all got their names on the score sheet, the latter’s first league start.

Fuchs, 24, saw out the entire 90 minutes during the 3-0 defeat as he tried to cope with the attacking presence of both Turnbull and Rogic. It was comfortable for the Hoops, in the end.

It comes in the same weekend that Cameroon international Fuchs told Foot Mercato that he has been inundated with offers. The midfielder’s contract at Dundee United ends next June.

Available on a pre-contract arrangement, or even for a cut-price figure in January, Fuchs namedropped a whole host of English clubs and German side Stuttgart – as well as Celtic and Rangers.

“There has been contact with Blackpool, Peterborough, Stuttgart and Wigan. There has been from Celtic and Rangers as well, but nothing more. A Premier League club as well. England would be good,” Fuchs said.

What did Celtic fans think of Fuchs, during Sunday display?

Rogic and Turnbull were excellent, as Celtic not only dominated possession – but all the chances against a pretty lacklustre Dundee United side. Fuchs hardly stood a chance.

As a holding midfielder, WhoScored’s stats say Fuchs was probably the pick of the Dundee United players. He made five tackles and four interceptions against Celtic, leading his teammates in both areas.

Celtic fans were impressed and amid the claim from the player himself that contact had been initiated, many think he would be a good addition to Celtic’s squad – albeit as depth.
