Celtic fans want 21-year-old David Turnbull to start against AC Milan

Celtic kick off their Europa League group stages with a mouth-watering clash against AC Milan on Thursday night – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter want to see youngster David Turnbull drafted into the starting XI.

Neil Lennon’s side begin the group stages with a home fixture at Parkhead against Italian giants Milan, who currently sit top of Serie A with a 100 per cent record from four games.

They have a star-studded line-up which includes centre-forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is still a major goal threat at the age of 39.

Celtic go into the midweek fixture off the back of a crushing league defeat to Glasgow rivals Rangers, who have now opened up a gap at the top of the table.

The Bhoys are now about to run into even tougher opposition in Europe, but it’s an ideal opportunity to get back on track before a trip to Aberdeen at the weekend.

A selection of Celtic supporters on social media have claimed pre-match that they want to see Turnbull get his chance against Milan.

The 21-year-old only joined the Scottish giants back in August from Motherwell and he’s yet to force his way into the starting XI, as he only got a late cameo in the Rangers defeat.

He is an attack-minded central midfielder that can be a danger when pushed further up the pitch, but it would be a European debut if he’s involved against Milan.

Lennon may be tempted into some changes to his XI from the Old Firm loss and Turnbull is waiting in the wings to add his energy to proceedings.
