Celtic earned a comfortable 2-0 win over St. Mirren on Wednesday night at Parkhead as two early goals in the second half wrapped up all three points – but Hoops fans were unimpressed with summer signing Mortiz Bauer.
Bauer, 27, joined Celtic on a season-long loan from English Championship side Stoke City as Neil Lennon looked to solve a lack of depth at right-back, following the loss of Mikael Lustig, and Anthony Ralston who is on loan at St. Johnstone.
An Austria international, the signing of Bauer was deemed somewhat of a coup as he starred for Stoke in the Premier League during 2017-18 and has impressed at Russian side Rubin Kazan – as well as Swiss giants Grasshopper.

He made his fifth appearance on Wednesday night, coming in for 18-year-old Jeremie Frimpong who scored and starred against Aberdeen on the weekend. It was one of three changes, as Ryan Christie and Greg Taylor started.
Mo Elyounoussi finally broke the deadlock after what was a particularly lacklustre first half from Celtic. He tapped home a loose ball in the six-yard box, before James Forrest netted five minutes later – cutting inside from the right and finishing with his left.
But Bauer struggled on the right side of the defence and Celtic fans were not impressed with their summer signing, especially given the form of Frimpong and Hatem Abd Elhamed. Many supporters are so far unconvinced.
