Celtic fans thrilled with confirmed signing of Luca Connell

Celtic have confirmed the signing of midfielder Luca Connell – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are delighted with the news.

The Bhoys have confirmed on their official website that the Republic of Ireland youngster has moved to Parkhead.

The 18-year-old has penned a four-year deal with the Scottish giants after departing Bolton Wanderers.

He has come through the academy ranks at Bolton and even got experience in their first-team in the Championship last season.

Connell played 12 senior games for Bolton and caught the eye despite playing in a team that suffered relegation from England’s second-tier in the last campaign.

The left-footed ace usually plays as a defensive midfielder and is extremely confident in possession for someone his age.

The Scottish Sun previously reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers, Norwich City and Sheffield United were all keen on him, but Celtic could land the teenage for a lower cross-border tribunal fee.

He’s got the flexibility to play at full-back too if needed and is a highly-rated talent.

Connell is the second new signing in two days following the arrival of Christopher Jullien on Friday.
