Celtic fans tear into ‘garbage’ defender Jeremy Toljan after Hearts win

Celtic earned a 2-1 win away to Hearts on Wednesday night – and many of the club’s supporters ripped into defender Jeremy Toljan for his performance.

The Bhoys picked up a late victory on Neil Lennon’s return to the club as manager, as the new era begins following Brendan Rodgers’ exit to Leicester City.

James Forrest had put the Scottish champions in front in the first-half with his goal and the visitors seemed destined for three point when Hearts’ Jamie Brandon was sent off shortly after.

Hearts did equalise through Oliver Bozanic’s penalty in the second-half, but Celtic had a response with a winner through Odsonne Edouard in the 92nd minute.

They maintained their gap over second-placed Rangers and are very much in charge of the title race.

There was a host of criticism on social media aimed at Toljan for his performance, as he was caught out at times defensively and mainly lacked the quality going forward to make a difference.

The 24-year-old right-back is on loan from Borussia Dortmund and has taken Mikael Lustig’s place in the team, but his position could be under threat at full-back.

Here are some of the Celtic fans ripping into Toljan for his latest contribution:
