A number of Celtic fans have implored Neil Lennon to never use Lewis Morgan as a striker again after watching the youngster’s performance in the Scottish League Cup final.
Morgan was one of the surprise names included in the Hoops’ starting lineup at Hampden Park. The winger has previously featured up front for the Bhoys. But with Odsonne Edouard in contention to feature against Rangers, many would have been forgiven for expecting Neil Lennon to take a gamble on the Frenchman.

However, Lennon decided to stick by Morgan and leave Edouard on the bench. And it quickly became apparent that Celtic were going to need something more if they hoped to win.
Rangers were the better side for much of the contest. And Morgan’s inability to got onto the ball seemed to be one of the key reasons why Celtic came under such pressure.

The 23-year-old was rarely in the right position when long balls were sent up the pitch. And Connor Goldson and Filip Helander seemed to have no problem dealing with anything that did go near Morgan.
It was no surprise that Celtic were a much bigger threat after Edouard came on around the hour-mark. And the winning goal came soon after – with Edouard winning the free-kick that led to Christopher Jullien’s strike.
And plenty of Celtic supporters have insisted that Sunday’s win highlights why Morgan should not be used up front. He made little impact. And the fans cannot quite understand why Leigh Griffiths did not feature.
It would certainly be no surprise to see Celtic target a new striker in January.
Here is what some of the Hoops supporters made of Morgan’s performance in the cup final…
