He has not been seen since the defeat to Valencia in the Europa League second leg at the end of February.

Of the Scotland international’s return, Hoops boss Neil Lennon said: “He’s back in training and could feature on Sunday. It’s a great boost for the team.”

A boost indeed

Although Celtic probably had enough to surge to an eighth straight Premiership title, it’s great news for them that McGregor has recovered so quickly.

The star has had a good season for the Bhoys having scored five and assisted three times.

He is held in high regard by Celtic fans for his creativity and energy in the middle of the park.

Over the past couple of seasons McGregor has really established himself as one of the team’s most important players.

Captain Scott Brown recently said of his midfield colleague (The Evening Times): “His work rate is phenomenal and he just gives us so much in terms of being able to pick out a pass or score a few goals himself. He is a quality player and getting him back into the team should give everyone a bit of a lift.”

Fans react
