New Celtic signing Shane Duffy was in action on Thursday night on the international stage – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter raved about his influential display.

The Bhoys signed the 28-year-old defender on a season-long loan earlier this week from Premier League club Brighton and he will link up with the squad after the international fixtures.

Duffy captained Republic of Ireland for their Nations League fixture against Bulgaria, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

The centre-back was arguably caught out of position for Bulgaria’s opening goal from Bozhidar Kraev, but more than made up for it with a commanding header in the 93rd minute to rescue a point for the Irish.

He’s shown during his time at Brighton that he’s a real presence in both boxes, which is why Celtic fans should be looking forward to his goal threat as well as quality in defending set-pieces.
