Plenty of Celtic fans took to Twitter to discuss Scott Allan after his excellent performance helped Hibernian to a 1-1 draw with Neil Lennon’s side at the weekend.
Allan was making his first appearance against Celtic since leaving the Bhoys to join Hibs on a permanent basis in the summer.
The 27-year-old spent around four years on the books at Parkhead. But he made just 13 Scottish Premiership appearances during his first season with Celtic, and then spent much of his spell out on loan. He did not feature once for the Hoops last season and signed a pre-contract deal at Easter Road in January.
Interestingly, it was Lennon who was in charge of Hibs when Allan agreed a deal. He had also been the manager to get the most of the midfielder during his various spells on loan.
But with the Northern Irishman since returning to Celtic, they came up against each other on Saturday. And it is surely Allan who would have been much happier with the result.
The midfielder showed some glimpses of real brilliance in the draw. He played a delicious pass in the build-up to Hibs’s goal, and his turn to get past Scott Brown was outstanding.
It was not a flawless performance from the former Scotland under-21 international. And plenty of Celtic fans slammed Allan for going to ground so easily on various occasions.
But several Bhoys fans on social media were full of praise for the midfielder. Some joked that he should be re-signed, while others insisted that if he played like he did on Saturday when he was at Celtic, he would have got more of a chance.
Here is how some of the Celtic fans reacted to Allan’s display…
We signed Scott Allan back yet? 😂😂

Scott Allan might’ve not been good enough to play for us but he’s a baller and someone you’d pay money to go see if you were a Hibs, Hearts etc

If Scott Allan had shown a fraction of the determination and battling today when he was at Celtic his career might be different. His choice, wasted years.
