Celtic fans react to performance of David Turnbull during Scottish Cup win

Scottish Premiership outfit Celtic needed a penalty shootout to defeat Championship club Hearts after a 3-3 draw in the showpiece Scottish Cup Final at Hampden Park.

It was by no means a vintage display by the Hoops but right now a win – and a trophy – should earn Neil Lennon a stay of execution.

Celtic roared into a 2-0 lead thanks to Ryan Christie and Odsonne Edouard but goals from Liam Boyce and Stephen Kingsley pegged them back.

Leigh Griffiths looked to have secured victory for the Hoops but Josh Ginnelly equalised for the second-tier team.

One man who did impress Celtic supporters was attacking midfielder David Turnbull.

He was handed the chance to start in the No.10 role and was surprisingly substituted with 22 minutes of the contest remaining.

The 21-year-old signed for Celtic for £3.25 million in the summer but has been forced to wait patiently for a chance.

In the last couple of weeks, he has been trusted to start games by Lennon and was duly given the nod for the cup final.

Turnbull could be the creative spark to revive Celtic’s fortunes in the coming weeks and they do desperately need a lift.

During today’s game, supporters took to Twitter to discuss the performance of the youngster – and it’s fair to say they were impressed.

Here is what Celtic fans were saying about his display.
