Celtic fans react to Mohamed Elyounoussi’s goalscoring display against Cluj

Celtic went to the top of their Europa League group with a 2-0 victory over Cluj secured by goals from Odsonne Eduoard and Mohamed Elyounoussi.

There was plenty of talk about pre-match revenge, with Cluj being the club who knocked Celtic out of the Champions League qualification process.

It’s unlikely that was the motivation, but the Hoops did produce an exciting performance on home turf to put themselves into a strong position in the group with two games played.

Elyounoussi, on loan at Parkhead from Southampton, netted his first goal for his temporary employers and impressed the supporters on the night.

Plenty of supporters on Twitter feel that the winger looks a shrewd addition to the squad, with one saying he had his best game in a Celtic shirt last night.

He came to England with a strong reputation from his time at Basel, where he scored goals in the Champions League, and if he can replicate that form in a Hoops shirt, Neil Lennon will have a serious player on his hands.

Nights like last night will only help him go in the right direction and the fans will hope there’s plenty more where that came from.

Getting his first goal gets the monkey off his back and should boost his confidence, which was damaged by his poor spell at St Mary’s.
